In CDA's Quarter 1, 2018 magazine edition, Orion Food System's highlights the importance of pizza programs in c-stores in the article, "Rolling in the Dough".
Pizza programs in the c-store setting continue to bring opportunities to suppliers, distributors and retailers. Bob Littlefield, one of the operating partners at Orion, reminds readers that "Foodservice is the fastest-growing segment of the convenience store business, and is the most profitable for the channel." He goes on to explain how Orion offers pizza programs that allow for virtually any retailer to get into the pizza business.
Orion's pizza programs include everything from providing dough, sauce and cheese in bulk to stores, a franchised Hot Stuff Pizza for a full-service menu and Papa Primo's for a freezer-to-oven program.
Littlefield stresses the importance of quality food throughout the article, In order for distributors to help retailers run a successful pizza program, they need to offer the most sought-after products and bring high-quality food to c-store shoppers.
So what else goes into running a successful pizza program in c-store? "The real distinction between Orion and competitors' programs is that we can provide the wholesale community not only with pizza products, but with the equipment like ovens, warmers for the stores and packaging. In short, we can create in the store a pizzeria on a one-stop, one-phone-call basis," Littlefield said.
